Hi Anna,

That is a really cute pic. Thanks a lot for the wishes. And birthday treat? Hmmmm.... let me know if you come to Pune or Mumbai and you will get your treat. Btw I am coming to Kerala in January for a friend's wedding... maybe we can meet up then :-)

Hi,
Happy birthday and thanks a lot for reading my story. It would be interesting however to know what you and your friend discussed.

Infinite worlds, one inside the other

Submitted by varun on Fri, 21/10/2005 - 11:43am.

Well... my friend (Pratik) and I used discuss this way back in 10th or 11th Std... i.e. 1998 or 1999.

Our theory basically was like this. We knew that molecules were made up of atoms and atoms of subatomic particles and they in turn are thought to be made up of quarks. We used to think that maybe this zooming in thing was infinite... i.e. even quarks are made up of something else and they in turn made of something else and so on. However we extrapolated this in the other direction. Maybe our universe is a tiny particle of some other much bigger thing and intelligent beings in that world think of our universe as an elementary particle when it is in fact not...

This theory of ours popped up in the back of my mind when I was reading your short story... Maybe I should blog about this sometime. Come to think of it... we used to have many such interesting theories and penning them down would make for interesting blogging and interesting reading.

Happy Bday

Hi Shantanu,

Thanks yaar. yeah... you termed it right: "24 club". Sure feels a bit odd, a weird mixture of fun and responsibilities :-)

Hey... I read your blog regularly (unable to comment bcoz I cannot login to Yahoo!) and I enjoy most of your posts. Keep blogging. How about posting a poem of yours? I know you have a small collection of them...

Chal take care.

Hey Varun,

Hey Varun,

Yea, I do have some poetry that I used to write long time back. However, things at school have been quite challenging lately and it's been a while I blogged too. Either case, I'll get back to it soon. :)

How are things coming along in Pune. You guys have any respite yet from the rains? And by the way, I'm still mad at you for not meeting me when I was in Pune! Hopefully we can meet the next time...

Looking forward to your poems

Submitted by varun on Tue, 25/10/2005 - 12:37pm.

Am definitely looking forward to some of your poems. I think you mailed one on the school group ages ago and even though I don't remember what it was about I do remember that I had liked it immensely.

Rains have finally left Pune and winter is slowly setting in. In the evenings it does get a bit chilly.

And I know you are mad at me for not meeting you in Pune. I was hoping to avoid that topic :-( Maaf kar dey mereko bhai...

23 is alot but you need to still GROW UP

Disclaimer: Before i begin, Happy birthday. Now that i know it is your birthday, i also know that this is not the best time to paste this. But since you could find time today(too!), to comment on my blog about IIPM, so maybe i shouldt hesitate either.

Two points here
1] IIM gives a diploma (PGDM) and not an MBA degree unlike several other colleges. Can we thus logically infer that all these other MBA offering colleges are better than IIM? I still fail to understand how false advertisement by the administration can be a conclusive evidence to poor education. It does most certainly make me suspect the quality but not with certainity.

On similar logic, someone said that because A.Chaudhary does not have some of the degrees he claims, so qulity of education at IIPM is poor. Makes me wonder how Microsoft or Apple became so big with founders such a bill gates and steve jobs who dont have any college degree!!

2] I have done the needful as duty of a blogger. I dont want to discuss this any further. And yes, go get some life. It might be too late before you realise that the festive season all around is over, while you and others were caught up in trying to play an America on Iraq (IIPM) to liberate Iraqis (IIPM students).

Some more blah blah...

Submitted by varun on Mon, 24/10/2005 - 6:02pm.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Btw I am 24, not 23.

I find it amazing that you are still pursuing the ads-are-false-so-what line of reasoning to defend IIPM. Do you even know the later developments that have taken place? I doubt it. Go do a little more reading of what people have found out about IIPM and then come back.

IIPM makes tall claims in its ads and most of these claims have been proven to be false. IIPM claims academic affiliations that are denied in no uncertain terms by the institution the affiliation is supposed to be with. IIPM claims campus placements with many companies and most of these companies deny that they went to IIPM for campus placements. IIPM does not refute any of these allegation directly and instead chooses to threaten people into withdrawing the posts that have been giving IIPM bad publicity. Doesn't this make you feel that IIPM is a shady institution and best avoided?

You have been going on and on about the 'Actual quality of education' but you still don't elaborate on what you mean. Maybe you have a very customized definition of quality of education and maybe IIPM does indeed provide good quality education by that definition. I just want to know what that definition is...

Regarding your 2 points:

1] No, an MBA is not necessarily better than a diploma. But how is this relevant to your argument. You say "It does most certainly make me suspect the quality but not with certainity". All right. I think the only thing that will convince you is a notarized email from Mr A.C. himself saying that all that is being said about IIPM is true.

Do you even think about what you write/comment? Not having a degree(or diploma) is one thing. Not having it and claiming that you have it (i.e. lying) is another (very bad) thing altogether. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates did not have degrees but they never claimed that they did. However if the dean of a college lies about his academic qualifications then I sure as hell will doubt the claims made about the institution.

2] Regarding your advice to me to 'get a life'. Well ... I already have a life and I am quite happy with it. Thanks for your words of concern and generous unsolicited advice.

I must say that you have quite a talent for framing humorous pithy sentences. I found 'trying to play an America on Iraq (IIPM) to liberate Iraqis (IIPM students)' especially humorous :-)

And finally... I have taken a vow to not grow up. And I don't intend to break that vow anytime soon. Sorry to disappoint you. Have a nice day.

Happy Birthday!
