The IIPM Blog Wars: Mainstream media, where are you?
(UPDATE 11:10 PM IST): Varna also gets a legal notice from IIPM legal cell. Just a few more hundred bloggers to go...
Many people (including me) have wondered (and are still wondering) why this has not been picked up by the print media and/or news channels?
However things just might change.
"If Desipundit and others who want this to go to the printed press I might be able to help, I know someone in a news agency more than willing to publish, also know a young albeit good lawyer willing to tell us about the legal notices. Any takers?"
Lets give her all the support we can.
My favourite snippet from her latest post:
Freedom of speech is the liberty to freely say what one pleases, as well as the related liberty to hear what others have stated. It is not becoming (to say the least) of an institution that claims to be among the best ones to stamp on this right. That you shall not succeed no matter how hard you try is a different thing altogether!
Bingo!
Ash also wonders why there is utter lack of news in the mainstream media regarding this.
He She says:
What stumps me, and outrages me is the utter lack of any news regarding this issue in the mainstream media. What has just happened is a despicable act of hooliganism. And there has been no media coverage over this !
I'm not even looking for media reports that support Rashmi and Gaurav's side. How about unbiased takes on the matter ? How about a tiny little piece atleast acknowledging the on-going fracas ?
The term 'freedom of speech' is often bandied about in situations like this. But it is most apt. A person's freedom of speech was questioned. And attempts were made to suppress that same freedom. Physical threats of violence were made to normal citizens, like you and me.
Wasn't this exactly the kind of things journalists were supposed to do ? Weren't they the ones to boldly step up and fight the good battle ? Weren't they supposed to get into the war zone and expose fraudulent claims ? Wake up !
I agree.
