I could not control myself any longer and in a moment of weakness bought Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince couple of days back. I also got Shantaram and Tuesdays with Morrie. Since few weeks I had not been reading anything except the newspaper and some docs on Ruby. I realized that I was getting too bored and needed a healthy mixture of technical stuff and unbridled fantasy. I have discovered that doing so actually improves my concentration span and comprehension (nice excuse, isn't it? :-) )

I started reading yesterday morning and have already read about three fifths of HBP. I have found it quite interesting till now and was up reading till 3AM, even though I had to get up at 8 today :-( Now I am feeling a bit sleepy but I plan to go back home at 6 and start reading so I can complete it today itself. I don't know why but I am reading this book much more slowly than all the other Harry Potter books. Maybe it is because I am hooked to Harry Potter. Maybe it is because this book is a shade darker than all its predecessors. Or maybe because I want to relish every page and not miss out on anything.

I still don't know who the Half-Blood prince is? Is it Dumbledore? Or is it Voldemort? I don't think it is Voldemort because that would be too predictable. I think JKR will introduce some new character who is HBP and all the loose ends in the novel will be tied up. I will come to know about that by tonight latest...

What I have found most interesting about the book is the problem everybody is having with their new found feelings of love and/or infatuation (being teenagers they are obviously confused... wait a minute, aren't we all?). Ron likes Hermione, but pretends to like Lavender. Hermione likes Ron (I think) but goes around with McLaggen just to make Ron jealous. Harry has feelings for Ginny, but he is afraid of revealing them, especially because Ginny seems to like Dean. A very unstable structure in all. I am sure it is going to all collapse and everybody's true feelings are going to come out and everything will be fine again. And I discovered another word for kissing that does not 'sound' like kissing at all: snogging.

A weird analogy popped into my mind when Dumbledore was revealing more about Voldemort's past to Harry.
Analogy= Dumbledore:Good Project Leader::Voldermort:Bad Project Leader ...
More about this if I can develop this into a decent hypothesis/analysis/whatever :-)

When I was shopping for HBP I also snapped up the novel Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Tejaswi had blogged some time back that Shantaram was a nice book so I bought it.

I also gifted myself Tuesdays with Morrie. No idea about what the book is about but some of my friends have recommended it so I decided to get it. And no, I do not read the description on the back cover of books as far as possible. For me that sometimes spoils the actual reading of the book...

All in all a nice weekend and a great many days of good books coming up... Yay!
