Rain rain go away

The past few days have been quite unremarkable. Nothing new in my routine. I have been waking up a bit late, around 9 or 10 primarily because I am staying awake too much. Have not done any productive or constructive work on my PC yet.

Watched couple of movies: Swades and Veer-Zaara. Found both of them to be good but nothing exceptional. I don't know why but always thought that these were great movies. Was disappointed a little but they were good timepass so no major regrets. Heroines of both movies look good (Preity looks HOT in Veer-Zaara and Gayatri Joshi also suits her role very well) in fact all the actors (and actresses) acted quite well I think. Of course Shahrukh Khan hams a little once in a while but what is a Shahrukh movie without a little hamming? Amitabh Bachchan is simply great in Veer-Zaara (am I the only one who thinks that like wine even he is maturing with age?). I was also amused to find that all Indian villages look pretty and green in both the movies. The villagers were rustic clothes but they are also remarkably clean and fresh. And the villagers are quite orthodox but melt like butter after a few dialogues from the hero or heroine. Whatever.

Since I am not a very good writer I am going to use a cliche and say that it has been raining cats and dogs in Pune since some days. I don't like it when it rains too much. Everything is damp and cold. There are files everywhere. And you cannot even walk to the nearby shop without getting your clothes dirty. But we seem to be lucky compared to the rest of Maharashtra. Mumbai has received about a meter of rainfall. Many of my friends stayed back in their offices. And some that did manage to get back to their rooms had to wade through waist deep water. Mobile networks were down yesterday (I even heard a rumour that they were deliberately jammed. Doesn't sound logical though), electricity is erratic and stuff like milk and vegetables are not available anywhere.

Our bai has been absconding since 3 days with the result that our unwashed clothes are piling up like anything. I simply hate washing clothes. Every morning when I leave home for office I pray like hell that the bai turn up today. And since 3 days every evening I get disappointed when I see that she had not come. If she doesn't turn up by Friday it is going to be a mini-crisis and I will have to wash at least you-know-whats myself. No choice. What the hell.

Day before yesterday was the first time my blog was mentioned by another blogger. Thanks Anna :-) Am glad to know that my blog does have readers apart from search bots and myself.

Yesterday I read this hilarious blogpost titled Why doesn't anybody like me? by blogger Anurag. . Anurag's blog also has 1 of the coolest slogans I have ever come across. It goes like this "Life can be a bitch, is the general opinion. Well, since I like mine so much, I must be a dog...". Nice, very nice. This guy writes so well. I wish I could write like him. Sigh.

I had been reading some of my older posts and I realized that I use too many common cliches (hmmm... an uncommon cliche would be an oxymoron, right?) and I have been linking to Wikipedia too much. Will try to change that.

I Think Swades deserves a li'l more merit than what u have given it..It was a bold movie.t
I believe that the popular perception that Indian villages are unclean is a wrong one...they are cleaner than all our cities.

hmmmm...

I found Swades to be enjoyable no doubt. But nothing different from all the upteen Hindi movies about Indian villages and Indian problems.

I agree that villages are generally cleaner than most Indian cities but the very-happy very-optimistic always-singing picture that is painted of Indian villagers and villages is not at all true.

Can deep-rooted beliefs such as the caste system and discrimination against girls be eradicated with a few dialogues? I dont think so.
