Claiming my free Zooomr pro account
Zooomr is giving out free pro accounts to bloggers and who am I to say no? So here is a photo uploaded to Zooomr and posted to my blog to claim a pro account. Only thing is checkout is how good zooomr really is, especially compared to other similar services. And they have not really mentioned the duration for which the account will remain pro, I guess it should be an year but I will have to check it out.
Btw I look cute, don't I?
del.icio.us tagroll
Its a bit too late for Saturday silliness but I guess Sunday is as good. Well this post is not all that silly. In fact it is a nifty little piece of JavaScript that generates a tagcloud (deli.icio.us calls it a tagroll) from your del.icio.us booksmarks. The tagroll is very tweakable with options to control cloud size, font sizes, font colours, title, sort order, flow style and tag count display. It adapts well to containers of different widths so it can also be used by addon freaks to add some jazz to their blog sidebars.
Here is what the tagorll for my bookmarks looks like:
You can quite easily see, from the bigger sized tags, where my interests lie.
Bond... James Bond.
I don't know where to begin so I will just begin.
Delhi Blogger's Meet was on 6th of November. In all 4+1 people turned up. 4 (Aanchal, River (nice name!), Saket and Tarun) bloggers and 1 undercover reporter (believe it or not 'James') from TOI.
James posed as a newbie to blogs and asked newbie-ish questions. No problem with that.
The problem began when an article by James titled Blogged down? appeared in Delhi Times on the 9th of November. Before you read further please go and read the article.
The article is poor journalism. After reading the article I got the impression that the journalist in question had already made up his mind about what to write and simply used the Delhi Blogger's Meet as an excuse. It is indeed badly written, unfocused and full of half-truths and white lies.
Reading the article and a blog post allegedly by the article's author brought upon me the desire to do some serious fisking. And that is what I am going to do.
Lets help the earthquake survivors
I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.
~Edward Everett Hale (via Ash)
An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan on October 8 2005 killing thousands of people and injuring many more. Whole villages were destroyed and the terrain and weather have made rescue operations very difficult.
Medicines, food and medicines are in short supply and severe winter is just about to set in.
The victims and survivors need aid and they need it fast. Consider donating to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. CNN has a list of more agencies that are working in the quake affected areas. DesiPundit also has a list of agencies that could use our help.
Visit the following sites for more information on the earthquake and relief efforts:
Can we make a difference? I am sure we can.
Fellow bloggers please heed the Blog Quake Day call by DesiPundit.
Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?
I know it is too early for Saturday silliness but what the heck... some middle-of-the-week silliness never hurt anybody. So I took this test called Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?
Turns out that I am somebody called Marcus Cole (more). Never heard of him but he seems nice.
