The IIPM Blog Wars: No legal notices today. Wow!

Amazingly today has been a notice-less day for Indian bloggers. Maybe its because the morons (my opinion) at IIPM legal cell took the day off due to Dushera. Or maybe its because they finally came to their senses.

There was a major slipup on my part in my previous post. I had written that Varna had been sued. Well later I realized that she has just been threatened with a legal notice that she will be sued. Sorry about that... Btw Varna says that she is not afraid of IIPM or its threats... of course yaar, that goes without saying. Nice to hear from you.

The IIPM Blog wars: Varna also get sued!

I was in the middle of compiling an update on the IIPM saga when I came to know that Varna has also received a legal notice from IIPM! I am simply too dazed to write about it... I wish I could just laugh it off like Varna Now what? Just a few hundred more bloggers to be sued?

I don't know why but DesiPundit has also not been updated since a few hours and Ash's blog is also down. I just hope everything is alright over there...

Here is the compilation of all the interesting posts/comments I came across on the IIPM controversy...

No 1 on Technorati
The issue is still raging in the Indian blogosphere it has also spread to many non-Indian blogs too. Just go Desipundit for all the updates. So much so that IIPM has become the most searched item in Technorati at around 5:00PM IST today. And that is no easy feat.

MSM, where are you?
I am still waiting for newspapers and/or TV channels to pick up this controversy. I hope I will find some mention of this in tomorrow's newspapers. Varna is all ears for anybody who can help her go to the press. Now that she has got sued she needs our support all the more...

The IIPM Blog Wars: Mainstream media, where are you?

(UPDATE 11:10 PM IST): Varna also gets a legal notice from IIPM legal cell. Just a few more hundred bloggers to go...

Many people (including me) have wondered (and are still wondering) why this has not been picked up by the print media and/or news channels?

However things just might change.

Varna says

"If Desipundit and others who want this to go to the printed press I might be able to help, I know someone in a news agency more than willing to publish, also know a young albeit good lawyer willing to tell us about the legal notices. Any takers?"

Lets give her all the support we can.

My favourite snippet from her latest post:

Freedom of speech is the liberty to freely say what one pleases, as well as the related liberty to hear what others have stated. It is not becoming (to say the least) of an institution that claims to be among the best ones to stamp on this right. That you shall not succeed no matter how hard you try is a different thing altogether!

Bingo!

The IIPM Blog Wars: Andy speaks!

As I mentioned in my previous post Andrew/Andy is on a commenting spree on my blog.

Andy claims to be an IIPM student. And he responds to the many queries floating around by presenting some (unofficial) facts and figures.

I am happy that somebody from inside IIPM has spoken up.

1 question for Andy/Andrew why post the same comment again and again? Please don't do that. It doesn't serve any purpose and it irritates me.

He does have some (unofficial) facts to present to us. Am too tired right now. Will read and respond to them in the morning. But maybe others could engage him in a debate...

I always wished the IIPM controversy to snowball into a bigger issue. A few hours ago it did but not the way I intended. I never imagined that things would come to this.

Gaurav decides to stand by what he wrote and quits from IBM. Yes... he has quit.

Apparently the Dean of IIPM threatened to do a real world drama and said that (quote is in 'first person' form and that person is Gaurav):

"IIPM Students Union had decided that if my blog posts were not deleted, then they would gather all the Thinkpads they had been given by the institute, and burn them in front of the IBM office in Delhi. Yes, that's right. Burn laptops!"
