The World This Week

My world that is.

It was an interesting week all in all. My 2 week whirlwind tour of Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi ended on Sunday late night and I woke up on Monday morning a quite tired. I dragged myself to work and it was a mild shock coming back to office after a gap of 2 weeks. But it was OK. Workload was manageable, there were no important meetings or deadlines lined up and I gradually got back into office mode.

Tuesday, wednesday slipped by without making much noise. Thursday was different. I was feeling ultralazy on Thrusday... I don't know why. I was feeling as if it was a friday but alas it was not. Thursday afternoon I went to Pizza Hut with office colleagues for Abhishek's so-called treat*. Thursday night Shibu (my newest roommate), Abhi and I went to a nice ice-cream parlour near our house and had double sundaes (or were they triple sundaes). It was after a long time I was having ice-cream and Thursday gets a 10 out of 10 for the culinary highlights :-)

Then my favourite day of the week, friday arrived. I love fridays. You have a whole week lined up and the day passes quite quickly in the anticpation of the weekend. We (Abhi, Hemant and I) went to a nice restaurant called Coffee House on M.G. Road for lunch. Again for Abhishek's so-called treat*. The food was delicious.

Friday evening Abhishek dumped all his luggage in his car and left (permanently) for Mumbai.

Saturday was sleeping day for me. I woke up around 11:00 AM due to a phone call. And all of a sudden I was getting phone calls from everywhere. I also had a couple of calls to make. I barely went through my morning routine and then ordered for lunch (good old chaval dal and dahi). After promptly consuming my lunch I went back to... of course sleep!! Aaaah... The joy of just eating and sleeping and eating and sleeping...

Am back

I am finally back to good old Pune after a whirlwind tour of Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi. I was on leave from work for about 2 weeks and I enjoyed every moment of it. The only downside is that I am too tired right now. How I wish I had a couple of days more leave to laze off and get recharged :-(

Anyways. This is just a filler post. More about my travels later... when I have the time and energy. Right now I am catching up on pending work like reading and replying to a zillion emails, paying bills, getting back on track about work and so on.

Monsoons = Lethragy

Yeah. Thats right. Monsoons induce lethargy in me like nothing else can. With the exception of good old homemade food. Sigh.

I always look forwards to the monsoons. I am born and brought up in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad is very hot in summer and dusty almost throughout the year. A combo that makes you yearn for rains. So every year I eagerly look forward to the rains and am very happy when they finally come.

However rains have a very unwelcome side effect in me. They make me more lazy and gently persuade me NOT to work. And in fact till last year that was what I used to do. Not work that is. I could afford/manage to coz I was just a measly student. Now I am employed. And I have to work (at least a little) everyday monsoons or not. :-(

It is times like these that I miss my home and college like anything. At home I would simply curl up with a good book, Mom would brew some coffee for me and I would spend days doing nothing. No constructive work as far as possible. That was my motto. If I was at college I would get some Espresso from the canteen, go and sit in front of the computer and surf, surf and surf. Or go to the library and read.

Nowadays when I get up in the morning I don't feel like going to office. In fact I don't feel like getting up at all. I feel like a slug who has no aim in life except to just while away the time doing nothing (reminds me of Garfield). I am not a morning person. I can stay awake as long as I want but getting up early in the morning takes a lot of effort and willpower. Add to it the dark and dank mornings that greet me nowadays when I wake up and I am even more discouraged to get up. Seeing some sun in the morning makes it easier for me to get up. Yawn. Even thinking about it is making me more sleepy.

Chalo... thats enough rambling for a day. I am damn hungry and am waiting for my roomie Abhishek to wrap up his work so that we can go home and get something to eat.

P.S I can almost hear my friend Pallavi ask me "What about lectures? You always fall asleep during leatures!" Well... thats very true. Lectures also make me very sleepy as my classmates (DA-IICTians) very well know :-) but that deserves a blog entry all of its own...

Yawn

Yawn. Its 10:00 PM and I am still in office. Am too tired now. Getting out.

Had a nice day today. Did some work. Reading docs and some designing and stuff. Also played around a lot with the site. Tweaked the look and feel a bit more. Also installed some more modules that will help make my life as a blogger easier.

The site has started getting hits. Search bots (Google and Yahoo mainly) have also started crawling the site. There was a configuration problem due to which new users could not sign up (Is that why there are no new users today?). Solved that and now users can sign up.

However I still could not get some things to work. I could not make captchas available in comment forms so I could not enable commenting for anonymous users. I also wanted to set up a Yahoo Groups! mailing list that I people interested in this site could subscribe to but I could not get my Drupal installation to send a mail to the group whenever content is posted. Will work on all of these in the coming days.

All in all a very satisfying day. Thanks to all of those who sent me feedback. I am working on all the issues that you have raised.

Good night.
