Still no email
- Woke up. Switched on Radio Mirchi. Did morning chores.
- Had milk with Bournvita and some bananas for breakfast.
- Dressed. Came to office on beloved bicycle. Weather was nice so enjoyed the ride.
- Came to desk. Booted the computer. Checked inbox for that eagerly anticipated email.
- No mail. Speculate why no mail. Speculation fruitless.
- Went to fetch a cup of hot lemon tea.
- Read 345 unread posts in feed reader. Resolve to cut down on number of blogs read. Especially personal blogs.
- Did some work. Have prepared a list of things to read and catch up on. Read some about buffer overflows. Many more security related topics on my to-read list.
- Checked inbox once again. Expected email still missing. Fret.
- Applied for leave. Called up travel agent to book tatkal tickets for next week.
- Went to lunch with couple of office friends. Visually inspected the lunch items and decided to have lunch (and not sandwiches).
- Lunch was pretty good by office standards. Gorged slowly and steadily.
- Went back to desk. Checked email. Still no email. Sigh.
- Did some work. Read some more blogs. Surfed a bit more.
- Finally removed a number of feeds from feed reader. Was very brutal with personal weblogs. They are my favourite kind of blogs but I simply don't have the time to read them.
- Divided remaining feeds into 'important' and 'not important' categories. Resolved to read only important blogs in the morning. Rest of the blogs in the evening.
- Checked inbox. Still no email. Thought of sending a follow-up email just in case recipient has forgotten about my email.
- Compose this post.
- Feeling very hungry. Decide to have dal chaval at Anand-Punjab dhaba.
- Hopefully email will come tomorrow.
Sigh. Yawn. Good night.
Post without an interesting title
Happy New 2006!
Had a ball of a time on New Year's partying with friends and friends of friends at Taj's Insomnia in Mumbai. Danced a lot, ate a lot, drank a little and remained awake till wee hours of the morning. Then caught a train back to Pune early morning on Sunday and slept for around 18 hours straight.
Home trip
I came back to Pune early morning yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip home and I wish I could stay there for a few more days.
The bus ride to Ahmedabad was more comfortable than I had expected and wonder of wonders the bus arrived in Ahmedabad on schedule. This made the entire experience less painless and I arrived home hale and hearty. Saturday was spent lazing around at home. Saw TV for many hours (we have a brand new widescreen TV!).
"Quote Unquote"
Day before yesterday I met Prof. Asim Banerjee, one of my professors from DA-IICT. He has come to Pune to attend a conference being held at NIA (National Insurance Academy). It was nice meeting him after such a long time (more than an year I think).
Home Sweet Home
Its the middle of the week and I am waiting for Friday to get here. I am going home for Christmas weekend and it will be a nice change of scene from work and Pune. No special plans though. Gunjan will be in Ahmedabad around the same time and I look forward to meeting him. I also plan to get Mom something nice as her (belated) birthday gift. But I have still not given much thought to what I should actually get her.
