Had a nice weekend

All in all I had a nice and relaxed weekend, mostly spent reading or meeting/talking with old friends.

Saturday was spent in office, catching up on some personal reading. Karthik (my roommate) and I also went hunting for a digital camera in the famed Connaught Place area near our office. One thing I do not like about my current office location is that there no decent eating joints nearby. Sure you have your average office canteen or tea stall but no decent restaurants of coffee shops.

I also talked to Sobha after a long gap on Saturday. Seems like lot of things are happening all at once for her... I wish she had a blog of her own right now, she sure has a lot to blog about right now. Anyways we talked at length about what was going on in our respective professional and personal lives. It was nice talking to her... we should do this more often.

I woke up late on Sunday. My school buddy Aditya was in Gurgaon for some official work and we decided to meet up. Poor guy caught a bus and an auto-rickshaw in this scorching Delhi heat but came to my room more or less on time, which for a person from my school batch is quite odd. We talked and talked and talked about new things and old. We also had a heavy lunch and a whole watermelon! Lately I meet all my old friends, especially those from school, outside Ahmedabad. Hotspot is Mumbai but I also happen to bump into somebody in almost every city.

I finally mananged start reading Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations. At the pace I am reading it will at least be a month before I am through with it.

Things are quite good on the work front. Workload is lower than usual, so am a bit more relaxed than I was last week. However that seems set to change soon. I won't bore you with all the nitty-gritties of what I am doing right now.

An interesting thing that happened today is that around 4 of DA-IICT my batchmates who are in the same company but different cities met up online on our official messenger and had a total tp (timepass) freewheeling chat for around an hour. Wish James, Kris and Jigar were also there. Later I also chatted with an old school friend Ashka.

The great absent-minded me also forgot Pallavi's (Sorry Pallu) birthday, Gaurav's birthday and James's birthday this month :-( Also almost forgot Mini's birthday except that she called me up and reminded me that it was her birthday (Thanks Mini!). This is what happens when I am out of touch with my personal inboxes... I don't read the birthday reminders and then I feel bad afterwards.

Hey... I talked or chatted with many of my friends these past few days... maybe I should have titled this post "Mere Yaar" or something equally corny. Hey... that reminds me, Janak should be in Amsterdam by now. Also talked with him on Saturday :-)

I am feeling a bit sleepy and very hungry right now so I will stop blabbering for today. Byeeeeeee!

Parliament area

My office is very close to the Parliament building (100 meters). The area is full of government buildings and a few private offices. There is simply no space for restaurants. You have some very small stalls and some office canteens but no place where you can have food everyday.

CP is around a kilometer and a half from my office. But even that is too much if you just want to go some place in 5 mins, have lunch and get out. Going to CP, having lunch and coming back usually takes around 70-80 mins so that is out of the question on an everyday basis.

Aditya is doing well. He has become a C.A. (actually he cleared all his C.A. stuff last year) and is with ITC Ltd. in Kolkata. His current job profile is as an auditor. So he is often touring around the country.
