Home Sweet Home
Its the middle of the week and I am waiting for Friday to get here. I am going home for Christmas weekend and it will be a nice change of scene from work and Pune. No special plans though. Gunjan will be in Ahmedabad around the same time and I look forward to meeting him. I also plan to get Mom something nice as her (belated) birthday gift. But I have still not given much thought to what I should actually get her.
Bad news is I will be going home by bus. I had booked train tickets more than a month back but they are still waitlisted with no chance of getting confirmed (or RAC-ed) by Friday. Nowadays I have started to detest bus travel. I find the seats very uncomfortable after an hour or so, I cannot read because after sunset there is not enough light inside the bus to read, the bus conductors have a penchant for putting on corny Hindi movies, it gets cold in the night and nobody can save you if you have a co-passenger whose hands and head have a mind of their own when he dozes off. Only consolation is that I will am going in a Volvo bus which is slightly more comfortable than the average bus (but not by much and its very much hyped comfortable seats do not matter if you are taller than 5 feet 6). I just hope its not too cold at night.
Speaking of cold its getting colder here day by day. Daytime temperatures are quite comfortable but after sunset it becomes very cold. Even inside the house I am wearing multiple T-Shirts. Today morning it was so cold that I woke up around 6 and put on another pair of trackpants over the ones I was already wearing. Cold weather affects me more than it does the average person. Even when everybody else is comfortable wearing a light sweater, I am strutting around the house in battle armour, socks and chowkidar-style woollen cap :-)
Lot of travel is in the offing. I will be going to Ahmedabad this weekend. I will be going to Mumbai to celebrate the New Year with my friends. Then there is a Kerala visit (Sobha's wedding) scheduled for the first week of January. Then Ahmedabad again for Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti) and around the 25th I plan to go to Bangalore to spend a few days with Vineet. Luckily except the trip this weekend all other travel is by train.
